Cat 5e Outdoor Cable for Ethernet Networks

24 AWG Solid Copper Cat 5e UTP Cable
Eight solid copper conductors form four twisted pairs. Each conductor has solid polyethylene insulation, and the pairs sit within the outer PE jacket. U/UTP means that neither the individual pairs nor the cable as a whole have a metallic screen.

Outdoor LAN and IP Camera Applications
Typical applications include external IP camera connections, outdoor wireless access points and LAN extensions along protected outdoor routes. Select the cable according to the exposure conditions, network equipment and electromagnetic environment.
The UV-resistant jacket addresses sunlight exposure. However, outdoor installation also requires suitable cable supports, protected entry points and connections designed for the environment. Keep the route clear of significant electrical interference sources.
100 MHz Performance and Gigabit Ethernet
The published electrical characteristics cover frequencies through 100 MHz. This is a transmission-frequency specification, not a 100 Mbps speed limit: the product documentation lists 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet as an application.
A conventional structured-cabling channel extends up to 100 metres, typically including up to 90 metres of permanent cabling plus patch and equipment cords. Use compatible Category 5e or higher connecting hardware and test the completed link. A longer drum length does not increase the permitted network channel length.

Can this Cat 5e outdoor cable be buried directly?
A PE jacket alone does not establish direct-burial suitability. The listed construction has no armor or specified water-blocking layer. Is Cat 5e U/UTP PE a shielded cable?
No. This is an unshielded cable. If the project requires an overall foil screen, refer to our Cat 5e F/UTP cables and select the appropriate jacket for the route.
Is the PE sheath the same as LSOH?
No. This product uses a polyethylene outer jacket. Do not assume that it meets low-smoke or flame-retardancy requirements specified for an LSOH product. For routes entering buildings, check the applicable installation and fire-performance requirements.
