Cat 6A U/FTP LSOH Cable for 10 Gigabit Ethernet
Cat 6A U/FTP LSOH cable from ETK Kablo combines four individually foil-screened pairs with 23 AWG solid copper conductors and a low smoke, halogen-free jacket. Its electrical specifications extend to 500 MHz, and its listed applications include 10GBASE-T Ethernet. This product forms part of our Cat 6A U/FTP cable range.
Individual Pair Screens for Structured Networks
In a U/FTP cable, each twisted pair has its own aluminium/polyester foil screen. The cable has no additional overall foil or braid screen. A tinned copper drain wire runs between the screened pairs, and foamed polyethylene with a solid polyethylene outer layer insulates the conductors.
The individual screens help reduce coupling between pairs and electromagnetic interference. Use compatible shielded connectors and follow the cabling system’s termination, bonding and grounding requirements to maintain screening continuity.
Cat 6A U/FTP LSOH Cable Size
| Cable Size | Pair Count | Conductor Count | Conductor Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cat 6A U/FTP LSOH 4x2x23 AWG | 4 | 8 | 23 AWG |
The 4x2x23 AWG designation identifies four pairs, two conductors per pair and a conductor size of 23 AWG. For cable diameter, weight and packing lengths, see the Types section on this page.
10GBASE-T and PoE Applications
Typical applications include fixed structured cabling in offices, commercial buildings, server rooms and data centers. The cable connects distribution panels and network outlets as part of a compatible Cat 6A cabling system.
ETK’s technical sheet lists 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Power over Ethernet (PoE). Actual link performance depends on the complete channel, including connectors, patch cords, installation quality and length. For PoE projects, confirm the required power level, bundle size and ambient temperature during cable selection.
LSOH Jacket and Fire Performance
LSOH, also commonly written LSZH, refers to low smoke, zero halogen material properties. This product’s documentation lists IEC 61034-2 for smoke density and IEC 60754-1 and IEC 60754-2 for halogen and corrosive gas characteristics.
These properties do not establish circuit integrity during a fire or a specific CPR Euroclass. Where a project requires a CPR classification, confirm the applicable Declaration of Performance for the supplied product.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cat 6A U/FTP an unshielded cable?
No. The U indicates the absence of an overall screen. Each pair still has a foil screen, as indicated by FTP. U/UTP, by contrast, has neither individual pair screens nor an overall screen.
What is the difference between U/FTP and F/FTP?
Both constructions have individually foil-screened pairs. Cat 6A F/FTP cables also include an overall foil screen. Select the construction required by the network design and installation conditions.
Does LSOH mean FE180 or PH120?
No. LSOH describes smoke and halogen characteristics. FE180 and PH120 address circuit integrity under specified fire tests. This product’s published specification does not list those classifications.
