A-D(ZN)(SR)2Y Cable for Armored Outdoor Fiber Networks
A-D(ZN)(SR)2Y cable from ETK Kablo combines a gel-filled central loose tube, glass-yarn strength members, corrugated steel tape armor and a black UV-resistant HDPE sheath. This outdoor fiber optic cable provides a compact construction for network routes that require metallic mechanical protection.
The product belongs to our metallic armored fiber optic cable range. Select the fiber type and count below, then request an A-D(ZN)(SR)2Y cable quotation for your project.
A-D(ZN)(SR)2Y Fiber Counts and Types
A-D(ZN)(SR)2Y is available with 2–48 optical fibers in a single central loose tube. Choose from G.652.D, G.657.A1, G.657.A2, G.655.C and G.655.D single mode fibers, or OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4 and OM5 multimode fibers.
Core count means the number of optical fibers, not the number of tubes. Specify both the fiber count and type when ordering.
| Fiber Category | Fiber Options | Fiber Count Range | Tube Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single mode | G.652.D, G.657.A1, G.657.A2, G.655.C, G.655.D | 2–48 core | 1 |
| Multimode | OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5 | 2–48 core | 1 |
For example, request a 12 core G.652.D cable, a 24 core OM3 cable or a 48 core G.657.A2 cable. Confirm the dimensions, weight and delivery length for the selected configuration in your quotation.
Corrugated Steel Tape Armor and Central Loose Tube Design
The steel tape adds mechanical protection around the cable core. Inside, a single PBT tube houses the optical fibers and jelly filling. Glass yarn provides non-metallic strength members, but the steel armor means the complete cable is not all-dielectric.
For a route that requires a metal-free construction, compare our non-metallic armored fiber optic cables. Choose the protection system according to the installation conditions and project specification.
Planning Outdoor and Underground Fiber Routes
Consider this construction for outdoor distribution, campus connections and industrial communication routes where steel tape protection is specified. For duct installation or direct burial, confirm the selected cable against the route’s pulling loads, ground conditions and mechanical risks.
- Match the cable diameter to the duct, glands and splice closures.
- Check the specified pulling tension and bending limits before installation.
- Plan armor bonding and grounding to suit the site design.
- Use compatible closures and seal cable entries against moisture.
For routes entering buildings, also check the required fire classification and indoor cable length allowances. An outdoor HDPE sheath does not establish a riser, plenum or LSZH rating.
Selecting Fiber Type and Link Performance
Match the fiber type to the optical equipment, wavelength, link distance and required data rate. A cable’s armor describes its protection, while its optical fibers and the connected equipment determine transmission performance.
Calculate the link loss budget using fiber attenuation, connectors, splices and an engineering margin. Compare the result with the equipment’s optical power budget, then test the completed link. There is no universal 10 dB acceptance limit for every fiber network.

Frequently Asked Questions About A-D(ZN)(SR)2Y
Is this cable single mode or multimode?
Single mode options include G.652.D, G.657.A1, G.657.A2, G.655.C and G.655.D. Multimode options include OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4 and OM5. State the required type in your order; the product designation alone does not identify it.
Is corrugated steel tape the same as steel wire armor?
No. This product uses a tape layer rather than steel wires. Compare the specified mechanical performance when choosing between armor designs.
Can I order a 12 core, 24 core or 48 core armored fiber cable?
Yes. These counts fall within the 2–48 core range. Choose the fiber type and confirm the corresponding dimensions and delivery requirements.
Is the cable suitable for direct burial?
Confirm suitability for the actual route with ETK Kablo. Steel tape protection is relevant to buried installations, but ground conditions, installation methods and the specified mechanical limits still determine the selection.
Is this cable rodent-proof?
Steel tape provides a physical barrier, but an absolute rodent-proof claim requires supporting evidence. State any required rodent-resistance test or project criterion in your enquiry.
