RE-2X(St)HSWAH-PiMF/TiMF Instrumentation Cable

RE-2X(St)HSWAH-PiMF/TiMF is an armored instrumentation cable with individually screened pairs or triads, an overall foil screen and halogen-free inner and outer jackets. ETK Kablo manufactures this design with Class 2 stranded copper conductors, XLPE insulation and galvanized steel wire armor.

Part of our instrumentation cable range, it serves measurement and control circuits that require individual circuit screening together with mechanical protection.

Individual Pair or Triad Screens and Overall Screening

PiMF identifies individually metal-foil-screened pairs, while TiMF identifies individually metal-foil-screened triads. Each group has an Al/PET foil screen and a tinned copper drain wire. A further Al/PET screen and drain wire surround the assembled groups.

The individual screens help limit interference between circuits, while the overall screen helps reduce interference from external sources. Effective screening also depends on termination, bonding and cable routing. Our instrumentation cable shielding guide explains the roles of individual and overall screens.

Steel Wire Armor and Halogen-Free Jackets

Galvanized steel wire armor adds mechanical protection around the halogen-free inner jacket. The outer jacket is also halogen-free and UV resistant. The SWA layer serves a different purpose from the foil screens: armor addresses mechanical demands, while the screens address electromagnetic interference.

The product documentation lists smoke-density and halogen-related tests alongside flame-retardancy and flame-propagation tests. These characteristics do not establish circuit integrity during fire. Projects requiring that performance should review the separate RE-2X(St)HSWAH-PiMF/TiMF FE180 cable.

Applications in Industrial Measurement and Control

This design can serve fixed instrument circuits between field devices, junction boxes and control equipment where the project specifies individually screened groups, SWA and halogen-free jackets. Potential settings include process plants, power-generation facilities and industrial automation systems.

For oil, gas, chemical or mining projects, match the cable to the actual installation specification. Define the signal type, environmental exposure, mechanical demands and required approvals during selection.

RE-2X(St)HSWAH-PiMF/TiMF Conductor Sizes

The published conductor cross-sections are 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.50 and 2.50 mm². Specify the required pair or triad count together with the cross-section when requesting a quotation. ETK Kablo can confirm the available configuration, cable diameter, weight and packing lengths for your enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this differ from standard RE-2X(St)HSWAH?

The standard RE-2X(St)HSWAH product uses conductors stranded in layers with an overall screen. This PiMF/TiMF product adds individually screened pairs or triads as well as the overall screen. Specify the full designation when ordering.

Is the armor a steel wire braid?

No. This product uses galvanized steel wire armor, designated SWA. It should not be specified as a steel wire braided cable.

Does SWA make the cable suitable for every underground route?

No. Armor provides mechanical protection, but the installation must also account for water exposure, soil conditions and the required cable protection. Confirm the intended route before specifying direct burial.
