RE-2X(St)YSWAY Cable for Armored Instrumentation Wiring

RE-2X(St)YSWAY cable is a steel wire armored instrumentation cable with XLPE insulation, an overall foil screen and PVC inner and outer sheaths. ETK Kablo manufactures this cable for fixed industrial signal circuits that require screening and mechanical protection.

Part of our instrumentation cable range, this design uses numbered Class 2 copper conductors assembled in layers. It serves measurement, monitoring and process-control applications where the project specifies an armored multicore construction.

Overall Screening and Steel Wire Armor

The Al/PET foil screen surrounds the assembled cores, with a tinned copper drain wire for screen termination. Correct screen connection helps reduce the effects of external electrical interference on sensitive instrument circuits.

Galvanized steel wire armor provides mechanical protection around the PVC inner sheath. The screen and armor serve different purposes: the foil provides electrical screening, while the steel wires reinforce the cable against mechanical stress. Select suitable glands and follow the project’s earthing and bonding requirements during installation.

Applications in Industrial Process Control

RE-2X(St)YSWAY can connect field instruments, junction boxes and control equipment in process plants, energy facilities and manufacturing installations. For oil and gas or petrochemical projects, match the cable to the specified signal circuits, routing conditions and approval requirements.

The black PVC outer sheath is UV resistant. For exposed routes or buried installations, confirm suitability against moisture conditions, chemical exposure and mechanical loads. Steel wire armor alone does not establish suitability for every underground route.

RE-2X(St)YSWAY Conductor Sizes

RE-2X(St)YSWAY is available with conductor cross-sections of 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.50 and 2.50 mm². Include your required core count, conductor cross-section and cable length when requesting a quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RE-2X(St)YSWAY a halogen-free cable?

No. This product uses PVC inner and outer sheaths. If the project requires a halogen-free sheath system, compare the RE-2X(St)HSWAH construction.

Does this version use twisted pairs?

The construction specified on this page uses numbered cores assembled in layers. For circuits requiring twisted pairs, triads or individual screens, specify the required arrangement when selecting the corresponding instrumentation cable variant.

Does flame retardancy mean circuit integrity during fire?

No. The listed IEC 60332-1-2 test addresses flame propagation under defined conditions. It does not establish FE180 or PH120 circuit-integrity performance.
