J-Y(St)Y Lg is a screened PVC cable for indoor fire alarm, security and communication circuits. ETK Kablo manufactures this cable with solid copper conductors, PVC insulation, an overall aluminium/polyester foil screen and a red PVC outer jacket. It forms part of our fire alarm cable range.
J-Y(St)Y 2x2x0.8 and Other Cable Sizes
J-Y(St)Y Lg 2x2x0.8 contains four conductors arranged as a star quad, representing two pairs. Each conductor has a diameter of 0.8 mm. Higher pair counts use pairs stranded in layers.

Indoor Alarm and Communication Applications
Typical applications include fire detection, security systems, indoor voice communication, instrumentation and control circuits. Select the conductor diameter and pair count according to the equipment requirements, circuit length and project specification.
The overall foil screen and tinned copper drain wire help reduce electromagnetic interference when correctly terminated. Maintain the required separation from power circuits and follow the system manufacturer’s wiring instructions.
PVC Jacket and Flame Retardancy
The product specification lists IEC 60332-1-2 flame retardancy. This test addresses flame propagation; it does not establish circuit integrity during a fire. J-Y(St)Y Lg does not carry an FE180 or PH120 classification in its published specification.
For a low smoke, halogen-free alternative, see J-H(St)H Lg fire alarm cable. Where the circuit requires fire resistance, review the separate JE-H(St)H Bd FE180 PH120 cable against the project requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does 2x2x0.8 mean 0.8 mm or 0.8 mm²?
In this cable designation, 0.8 means conductor diameter in millimetres. A solid round conductor with a diameter of 0.8 mm has a geometric cross-sectional area of approximately 0.50 mm². Therefore, 2x2x0.8 should not be specified as four 0.8 mm² conductors.
What is the difference between 1x2x0.8 and 2x2x0.8?
J-Y(St)Y Lg 1x2x0.8 has one pair and two conductors. The 2x2x0.8 version has four conductors in the specified star-quad arrangement. Both use 0.8 mm diameter conductors.
Is J-Y(St)Y Lg suitable for direct burial?
The specification lists a UV-resistant PVC jacket, but it does not establish direct-burial suitability. For underground routes or wet ducts, ask ETK Kablo to confirm a construction suited to those conditions.
Can I specify this cable as an EIB or KNX bus cable?
A 2x2x0.8 size alone does not establish EIB or KNX suitability. Confirm the required bus cable specification and product documentation before selecting a cable for that application.
